Pear Conference

Conference Pear

About our Pear Conference

The Conference Pear tree is widely regarded as the nation’s favourite pear tree, its versatility allows it to thrive in any garden size or even in pots, can also be trained in various forms such as cordon, fan, or espalier.

Soft, juicy flesh with a mildly sweet, aromatic flavour, harvest period from September.

This variety is particularly reliable in the UK climate, producing large crops of rounded pears within just two years. It is also one of the best choices for shadier and colder spots, including north-facing walls, making it highly recommended for Scotland and northern areas of the UK.

Awarded the RHS Award of Garden Merit, the Conference Pear has a late harvest period from September to October. Its name originates from the 1885 National British Pear Conference, where it was first unveiled!

Picking Guidance

Pears are ready to be picked during their harvest period from September.

To pick without damaging, cup the fruit with the palm of your hand and tilt upwards; ripe pears detach smoothly from the branch.
